The Broad Street Corridor turns three years

The project of the Broad Street corridor will be soon three years after its start day and it seems that there is no sign in the coming months of the year, of an ultimate conclusion. The city has invested large sums of money on this project over these past three years, and the contractors and employees, until recently, worked very slowly in this project that matters to everyone, but at the same time, bothered by the slowness with which they have been doing the work on this street. As far as it is understood, the project should have ended last July. And yet, we still see the trucks, bulldozers and workers, certain businesses blocked, bottling and some streets closed.

The sad thing is that many of the businesses that are located in this street have been losing money and many of the customers usually do not go into these businesses because of the congestion on the route and for the simple reason that they can not find where to park their vehicles.

This is the case of the grocery store Arias Mini Market, located at the corner of Broad Street and Diamond Avenue. This business is being fully locked a long time ago and the owner has failed to earn a good sum of money; but no one is responsible for the loss of this business and other businesses in the area, which have seen their incomes decline over the past three years due to the poor planning of contractors performing this project. It is not understood, the reason to block the entire street from West Hazleton, if the work, however, is being done piece by piece.

There is a rumor that the local authorities have been given an ultimatum to these contractors to complete the work before the Funfest (the local festival that is celebrated every year in the second week of September)

Wishing this is not just a simple rumor but an evident reality and waiting for this nightmare to end soon. We are hoping that the authorities are really working on it, so we can all enjoy the beautification of our city, with the main street paved, great lights, decorative ornaments, flowers and pedestrian area for citizens to walk.
