Beautify the City Centre

By: Eddy Ulerio -

Hazleton, PA -. The initiative of the Chamber of Commerce to put Banners throughout the Hazleton city center in September is a very positive way in which the Hazleton’s Center has becomes more attractive for residents and visitors. Both the image of the tree symbolizing the population growth; as the mountains of backgrounds symbolizing the characteristic of this area are unified ideas that have changed the face of Hazleton. From here we welcome the positive initiative because we believe it is a gesture that realizes the interest that exists to make this city a more beautiful and comfortable place to live.

Recently, we have seen the placement of light poles, traffic lights, signs of the speed control, but the ultimate is the placement of lights and ornaments alluding to the holiday season approaching. Now the nights in our city are illuminated as never before. The streets have come alive and the people celebrate it with enough emotion.

It is very important that we begin to integrate ourselves to these processes of change. Moreover, it is time that we start to form part of the institutions and community organizations in the area, which are working for the promotion, cultural and social development of our community. In this way, we can aspire to these cultural encounters result in a better coexistence of all who are part of this new community, which today is Hazleton. Tensions will decrease, to the extent that we allow others to be as they are and begin to respect the differences of everyone; doing joint projects that are not conditioned to some people and stakeholders that disperse any vestige of real unity. Who truly wants to unite, do not shields or takes cover in a given group, deciding with whom to meet and whom not.

It's time for Hispanics traders to get strongly organized and to form part of the local Chamber of Commerce; thus they can participate and take part of the availability of benefits offered by this institution to all its members. But equally, it is the opportunity to start building bridges of solidarity between the Hispanic community and the Anglo community.

It’s time that we decide together the future of Hazleton, which is also the future of our children. They will be active part of the social, cultural and political development of the city in the coming years.
